In 2016, we (Judit, Llofriu, Baix Empordà) and Michael (New Zealand, the “kiwi”) created Doskiwis Brewing with the mission of making the beers we wanted to drink but were unavailable at that time here in Empordà. Back in 2016 the craft beer being produced in Spain was still evolving and some years behind countries with a more defined beer culture. We loved the idea of sharing the exciting world and flavors of craft beer with the community. 

In late 2017 we found what we had been looking for: an old unoccupied barn, with a ton of potential, space for a brewery, taproom and beer garden. We didn't have much money or outside investment but we were determined to make it work with what we had. We put together all of our skills and inspirations that we had gained from our previous experiences. We turned our biggest weakness (a lack of cash) into our biggest strength, as the constraint on spending forced us to be creative. We called upon friends and family to help us create Doskiwis, the DIY spirit of 2018 is in the DNA of Doskiwis and who we are. 

Determined, passionate and committed. 

It took us more than a year to get our doors open and on a cold February night in 2019 we invited the first guests to visit Doskiwis. We had 3 beers on tap + our kombucha, nitro specialty coffee and 1 single table in the garden. 

Here and now, we have 9 beers on tap and ~30 tables in the garden. We remain committed to supporting other like minded local businesses where we can.

Since opening in 2019 we have expanded our brewery, added a mezzanine to almost double our useable floor space and we have converted an old shipping container into a kitchen, (@thecontainer). Our team is up to 12 people (depending on the season) and we have built up a solid reputation within our community and within the craft beer industry, we are proud to say our beers frequently rate amongst the best in Spain. We've seen craft beer grow in popularity in the area and we’ve even inspired some others to open similar businesses to ours.

Looking to the future, our goal is to continue to improve, to keep learning, to strive to always do our best, to produce the best beer possible, to have a positive impact on our community and our local environment.
